TSL Education – publisher of the Times Educational Supplement and Times Higher Education – led the way at last night’s Professional Publishers Association Awards after picking up four awards including digital product of the year for business media.
Times Higher Education was also awarded business media brand and weekly business magazine of the year, while Times Educational Supplement’s Gerard Kelly was named business media editor of the year.
Other winners at last night’s ceremony, hosted by comedian Kevin Bridges and held at the Grosvenor House hotel, included Red magazine, which won consumer magazine of the year, and Time Out, which picked up the prize for international consumer magazine of the year.
The consumer media editor of the year award went to Reader’s Digest’s Gill Hudson.
Henry Winkler – best known for his role as Arthur ‘The Fonz’ Fonzarelli in Happy Days – made a special appearance to discuss his struggle with dyslexia and to highlight the importance of magazines in promoting literacy among children.
PPA chief executive Barry McIlheney said: ‘Congratulations to all the winners of this year’s PPA Awards, who can be proud of being singled out among a very strong field for their innovation and commitment to excellence.
‘Every year the PPA Awards reminds us that the talent within our sector is truly world-class and we are proud to represent this vital part of the UK’s creative industries.”
