Editorial development director Andy Cowles leaves IPC amid cutbacks

Former BSME Mark Boxer Award winner Andy Cowles is leaving IPC Media as part of a restructuring programme.

The former art director of Rolling Stone joined IPC Media as creative director in 2004 before becoming editorial development director in 2006. He was given the Mark Boxer award for outstanding achievement in the magazine industry in 2009.

He said: “IPC is a fine company, and I’ll be sad to leave. But in this changing publishing landscape I’m looking forward to putting my brand development skills to new use, whether in publishing or beyond.”

At IPC he was responsible for the development of new titles such as Pick Me up and TV Easy. In recent years he lead the redevelopment titles including Marie Claire, Instyle, Look and Ideal Home.

IPC Media announced a cut of 150 jobs from its UK workforce in January this year and is proposing changing conditions, including maternity benefits, for staff.
