Archant Life expands portfolio with four new magazines

Local magazine publisher Archant Life has acquired four magazines.

The publisher, a subsidiary of local newspaper group Archant, has acquired a portfolio of three magazines from from Peter Cranham and Colin and Maria Lansley. The Compass Magazines portfolio consists of two monthly letterbox titles and an annual tourist guide and has offices in Bournemouth and Southampton.

Archant Life has also acquired Compass Wey, a monthly title currently published under a franchise agreement and based in Farnham.

The magazines employ seven staff who will join the south east division of Archant Life, under the management of group publisher Guy Hanson and Regional MD Suzanne Heaven. The titles have a combined distribution of 110,000 a month.

Johnny Hustler, managing director of Archant Life, said: “I am delighted that we have been able to acquire these important titles.

“They operate in prosperous markets, have a long and distinguished heritage and produce excellent results.

“They perfectly compliment our county titles in Dorset, Hampshire and Surrey.”

Archant Life claims to be the largest regional magazine publisher in the UK, publishing 55 glossy county and city lifestyle magazines.
