Sunday Times has UK’s most popular digital newspaper edition – beating Mail and Mirror

The Sunday Times was the UK’s most popular newspaper tablet edition in February with an average of 88,080 ‘active views per week’.

The vast majority of these were an iPads according to ABC (79,455) versus 8,625 on Android devices.

The Times was the next most popular digital newspaper with an average of 71,199 active views a day.

A subscription to The Times and Sunday Times digital editions is included in the overall cost of digital access to the two paywalled titles.

The Daily Mail has invested significant resources in its paid-for digital edition Mail Plus. The paper is redesigned each day for tablet devices and the digital edition includes interactive puzzles, picture galleries and 360-degree photos.

According to ABC it had an average daily circulation of 32,191 subscribers in February and average daily active views of 18,887.

This compares with average daily print circulation of 1.7m and average unique global browsers visiting its website of 11.2m.

Mail Plus appears to have dropped its daily nostalgia magazine The Way We Were from the tablet edition package.

The Mirror is the only other national newspaper digital edition to be audited by ABC.

Its free Monday to Friday digital edition had an average of 46,916 daily unique views in February, according to ABC.

The paid-for weekend edition had an average of 7,117 daily unique views.
