Trinity Mirror and Archant have both made senior digital appointments to newly-created roles.
Trinity Mirror, the publisher of the Daily Mirror and regional titles such as the Liverpool Echo, has appointed Erik Svendsen from international media company Schibstead Media Group to the new role of group chief technology officer.
Svendsen has been at Schibstead Media Group since 2011.
In his new role, Svendsen will have responsibility for all technology and product management strategy at Trinity Mirror.
Svendsen, who will take up the role in July, will report to Trinity Mirror chief executive Simon Fox and he will be part of the executive team, heading up product, engineering, systems and infrastructure divisions.
Prior to his time at Schibstead Media Group, Svendsen worked at a number of internet companies across Europe including broadcasting software company Vizrt and publishing software company Esenic.
Separately, Archant has hired its second executive from Local World in the past few months.
It has appointed Steve Anglesey to the new role of digital content director, reuniting him with former Trinity Mirror colleague Matt Kelly.
Kelly joined Archant in November last year as chief content officer, after Trinity Mirror’s £220m takeover of Local World was announced.
Anglesey will oversee Archant’s digital content across the regional publisher, which owns titles such as the Illford Recorder, Kent on Sunday and the Bexley Times.
Anglesey said: “Archant has an extensive portfolio of brands that sit right at the heart of the communities they serve, with an impressive history of creating innovative and engaging content.
“This talent, coupled with the ambition demonstrated to be the best local media owner in the UK, means it is a very exciting company to be joining.
Anglesey, who will report into Kelly, has nearly 30 years of journalistic experience, including holding the role of assistant sports editor at the Daily Mirror and editor of Mirror.co.uk.
