Siobhan Kennedy appointed Channel 4 News business editor

Siobhan Kennedy has been appointed as Channel 4's new business editor after six years as the programme's business correspondent.

She joined Channel 4 in 2008, after a stint as the politics and business correspondent at The Times. Before that, she spent six years at Reuters, covering topics such as technology, banking and private equity.

Siobhan’s new role involves securing interviews with major industry names, reporting on aspects of the business world and analysing retail, banking and new business.

She has won several awards such as the Wincott Award for TV journalist of the year in 2013. She was also voted the private equity industry's national newspaper journalist of the year and when at The Times, won a Newswomen's News Club of New York award for her stories in the aftermath of 9/11.

Channel 4 News editor Ben de Pear said: “As an experienced business correspondent, she brings first-class financial journalism combined with creative story-telling at a time of huge excitement and change for business.”

Siobhan said it is a "fantastic moment" to become business editor: "The story of British business continues to be front and centre with an election looming, a referendum on Europe, and worries over the global economy slowing.

"I am excited and proud to take on this role and look forward to what I know will be a busy time ahead.”
