Harold Evans appointed Reuters editor-at-large

Renowned former Sunday Times editor Sir Harold Evans has been appointed to the job of editor-at-large for global news agency Reuters.

Evans, who is 82, will moderate ‘news-maker' live events involving global leaders and will also host events to showcase Reuters' photojournalism.

Reuters editor-in-chief Stephen Adler said: 'Harry is one of the greatest minds in journalism. He brings invaluable experience, innovative ideas, and access to the world's most influential leaders."

Evans' first event on 14 June will be see him hold a discussion with former US ambassador to China Jon Huntsman and former US secretary of state Henry Kissinger at the Reuters HQ in New York to be broadcast live online.

Evans spent 14 years as editor of The Sunday Times and a year as editor of The Times before moving to America in 1984. In recent years he has been more known for his books and last year published a memoir – My Paper Chase: True Stories of Vanished Times.
