Former TV Times picture editor Edward Nunn dies aged 88

By Freddy Mayhew

Former TV Times picture editor Edward Nunn has died aged 88.

Nunn, known to friends as Ted, started as a picture researcher for Odhams Press in the 1950s before moving to TV Times magazine in the 1960s, becoming picture editor until his retirement in 1987.

During his retirement he freelanced on the Sunday Times picture desk and Woman’s Realm magazine, among other publications.

Anthony Peagam, TV Times Editor between 1981 and 1987, described Nunn as a “superlative” picture editor and a “tower of strength” on the editorial team.

He said: “His knowledge of movies was astonishing and he repeatedly uncovered gems hidden in ITV’s weekly schedules. He often saved me from embarrassment, filling in the gaps in my knowledge of TV soaps and light entertainment in the gentlest way possible.

“He was a smashing chap, and I shall miss him.”

Nunn died on Monday, 5 December. He leaves behind his daughter, Elisabeth.
