Ben Borland named new editor of Scottish Sunday Express

By Press Gazette

Scottish Sunday Express deputy editor Ben Borland has been promoted to editor following the departure over Derek Lambie earlier this year.

Lambie left the paper in May after ten years as editor amid a wave job cuts at the paper, after Express owners Northern & Shell announced that around 70 jobs were being cut across its national titles as part of a £5m cost-cutting programme.

Borland, who has been deputy for the past four years, told allmediascotland.co.uk:

I’m very grateful for the opportunity to take charge of such a great Scottish newspaper at such a fascinating time in the country’s history.

We have a first rate team here at the Sunday Express in Glasgow and I’m really looking forward to getting on with the job of standing up for Scotland.

In recent months, we have campaigned to save the Scottish regiments and launched a drive to get tough on crime that has been hugely popular with readers.

I’ve loved every minute of my time as acting editor and I’m delighted to have been confirmed in the post full time.
