Yorkshire Evening Post unveils ‘bright new layout and tone’ for Leeds daily

By Dominic Ponsford

Johnston Press-owned daily the Yorkshire Evening Post has a new look.

The redesign comes against a backdrop of falling print sales for the title, from an average of 29,000 a day a year ago to around 24,000 in its last ABC audit.

The cover price remains 65p after the new look.

In a letter to readers editor Jeremy Clifford said: "Welcome to the new look of the Yorkshire Evening Post. After many months of planning, listening to readers and taking feedback, we are proud to launch the latest edition of your newspaper.

"This newspaper has been published in various formats for 125 years and it is still going strong.

"It has seen many changes in that time, and today marks yet another step in its evolution as we adapt to the changing way people want to read the news and sport and be informed about life in Leeds.

"Over the coming days and weeks, you will see a number of new sections introduced, with a bright new layout and tone to a newspaper that champions what is good about Leeds and draws attention to what we feel needs improving.

"There are new pages on traffic and travel, responding to the issues in the city, more nostalgia than we have ever run before, great new listings and ideas to go out in the city spread throughout the paper.
And plenty of opportunities for you to have a say, whether that be through the paper, online or via our Facebook page.

"We have also been careful to keep the things our readers like about the newspaper. We hope you like the changes we have made, and you will continue to help us to champion the city for many more years to come."
