Stefano Hatfield, former editor of the now defunct thelondonpaper, has been appointed to a new role with The Times.
Hatfield will take up the new role as director of ventures at The Times, reporting to editor James Harding
His new role, spanning commercial and editorial operations, will involve overseeing a department focused on taking The Times brand into conferences and events, with a focus on business-to-business.
The department is likely to have a staff of less than 10, reports Media Week.
News International closed its loss-making freesheet, thelondonpaper, in September citing poor market conditions.
