Shadow justice secretary, Dominic Grieve, has been confirmed as a speaker at the Society of Editors conference later this year.
Grieve is likely to discuss media freedom issues, including the conservative’s approach to the Freedom of Information Act, and increasing access to family courts.
The Tory frontbencher joins Baroness Buscombe, chairman of the Press Complaints Commission, as a speaker at the event.
Buscombe is set to open the conference with her first major speech since being appointed as Sir Christopher Meyer’s replacement in March.
Other confirmed speakers include BBC News head Helen Boaden, Times editor James Harding and Google’s UK director, Matt Brittin.
The conference will be based at Stansted airport’s Radisson hotel between from 15 November.
