French media company Lagardère said yesterday it was considering selling its international magazine business to focus on domestic titles.
The owner of Elle magazine – which is published in the UK by Lagardère subsidiary Hachette Filipacchi – told the Wall St Journal it had started talks with rival businesses over a possible sale.
Lagardère is reportedly in talks with up to five publishers over the possible sale and is reported to have held presentations to US media giant Hearst – which owns NatMags in the UK – as well as Bauer Media Group.
