Future closes UK tech mags

By Dominic Ponsford

Future has closed two of its most established technology titles: PC Plus and Nintendo Gamer.

PC Plus had monthly sales of over 100,000 12 years ago but its most recent ABC, for 2011, stood at 11,076.

Press Gazette has been unable to confirm a report that a third UK Future technology title has closed.

Nintendo Gamer is not ABC audited. Its closure was revealed to readers in the last edition this month with editor Nick Ellis noting that the move “draws the curtain on 20 years of independent Ninetendo mags from Future Publishing."

The Nintendo Gamer subscription page now invites readers to subscribe to the Official Nintendo Magazine, which is also published by Future.

PS Plus announced the news of its closure on its Twitter and Facebook page saying: “Well, that's it. We're sad to announce that issue 326 of PC Plus, which has just made its way to the printers, will be the very last one. Thanks to everyone for all your support over the last 26 years. We hope you've enjoyed the mag as much as we've enjoyed bringing it to you.”

Future also announced plans to close its US title Nintendo Power last month.
