The Financial Times has won an Apple Design Award for its free iPad app which has attracted 150,000 downloads since being launched on 17 May.
The app was one of five winners and the only news app that was celebrated at the awards ceremony at the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference in San Francisco.
Rob Grimshaw, managing director of FT.com, said: ‘We have been delighted by the success of the FT iPad app to date and average session lengths continue to exceed our expectations. The Apple Design Award is the icing on the cake.”
The app is integrated into the FT.com access model where registered users can view 10 free articles a month before needing to subscribe.
Key features of the app include the ability to download the daily FT for offline reading, view FT video content and a Markets Data section complete with macromaps.
You can download the application from the App Store here.
