Former journalist donates book royalties to armed forces

By andrew

Welsh former journalist Ian Skidmore, 82, is donating all royalties from his republished series of books to the armed forces.

Royalties from Skidmore’s recently republished book on Anglesey artist Kyffin Williams, called ‘The man who painted in Welsh’, will go to the Help for Heroes and other armed forces along with those from around 30 other titles due to be rereleased.

Skidmore is a former columnist at the Daily Post and BBC Wales presenter. He used to live in Brynsiencyn, Anglesey. but now lives in March, Cambridgeshire.

Despite suffering from cancer over the last couple of years he still managed to rewrite and update his original book on Kyffin Williams, with whom he enjoyed a close friendship.

The Man who painted in Welsh is published by former Daily Mirror executive Revel Barker, who is also publishing Skidmore’s autobiography ‘Forgive Us Our Press Passes’, which is already contributing to the Help for Heroes fund.
