Economist launches free weekly SMS service in the UK

By hannah

From this Friday, Economist readers in the UK can receive a free, weekly text message containing details of the cover story in that week’s magazine.

The Economist hopes the free SMS service – accessible by texting ALERT to 80801 – will offer readers ‘a useful reminder’of what the magazine offers.

Publisher Yvonne Ossman said: ‘We hope it will inspire those less familiar with our magazine to take a second look, so they don’t miss out on the stories that matter to them.”
