Conrad Black asks for minimum-security as prison looms

By paulmcnally

Conrad Black has asked to be placed in a minimum-security prison in Miami, to make it easier for his wife, Barbara Amiel, to visit him, according to the Times.

Lord Black – who failed this week to get his bail extended until June – must now report to prison and start his six-and-a-half-year fraud sentence by 3 March.

The former Daily Telegraph proprietor, who is a British citizen, has reportedly asked to be “treated like an American” – non-US citizens are not usually allowed to stay in minimum-security prisons.
