AFP to deploy 140-strong reporting team for football World Cup 2018 in Russia

News agency Agence France-Presse is deploying a 140-strong team to cover the football World Cup in Russia this month.

The team will provide copy, pictures, video and infographics coverage of the tournament, which takes place from 14 June to 15 July.

AFP said it plans to produce up to 2,000 broadcast and web videos in English, French, Spanish, Portugese and Arabic featuring teams, players, cities and stadiums as well as pre-match press conferences.

The Agency’s photographers will provide full live coverage of the competition, with up to 1,200 photos each day. A selection of the best images from on and off the pitch will be offered daily to customers.

The Agency will publish up to 600 infographics and 15 videographics providing analytical summaries visual statistics about the competition.

Interactive graphics available in six languages will include player biographies, presentation of the stadiums and a football trivia quiz.

Online, AFP is offering a widget in partnership with Gracenote that provides a real time data feed – fixtures, stadiums, teams, results, and statistics from previous World Cups.
