Academy specialising in digital media opens in Greenwich and appeals for industry support

By Press Gazette

The first UK secondary school specialising in digital media opened this week.

The Stationers’ Crown Woods Academy in Greenwich is sponsored by the Stationers’ Company, the London livery company for journalists, printers and other communications professionals.

The school is said to be heavily over-subscribed and to have received some £50 million of investment.

School governor and former master of the Stationers’ Company Kevin Dewey said: “The Stationers’ Company is very proud to be the sponsor of this new academy.

“We have a long history of supporting education and we look forward to improving the outcomes of the students through using our members’ and their contacts in the industry to develop the new digital media curriculum and provide mentoring, work experience, investment in specialist teaching equipment, careers advice, apprenticeships and job opportunities. We will also provide a fund for disadvantaged students.”

The Stationers’ Company is seeking support for the new academy from individuals and businesses throughout the media.

Those who are interested should contact the clerk, William Alden, by email at clerk@stationers.org.
