The British Olympic Association (BOA) has reversed its decision not to give The Voice full accreditation to cover the Olympics.
It follows a campaign which has included 2,600 people signing an online petition.
Sports editor at The Voice Rodney Hinds said: “It’s proof that people power does work and we’re humbled by the public’s response. While it’s a shame it had to get this far, Credit to the BOA and IOC for agreeing to let us cover the games. We look forward to delivering first class coverage of the Games from our unique perspective.”
Press Gazette reported last week on the anger of Newsquest London editor Andy Parkes whose group of titles across south London have not been granted a single full Olympics press pass despite promises to the contrary from London mayor Boris Johnson.
