‘Civil war’ at the heart of Wikileaks

By admin

The whistleblowing website Wikileaks has been “virtually paralysed” from publishing new exposés, former staff have told The Independent today.

Over the weekend the website followed up its July release of documents chronicling civilian deaths and other incidents in Afghanistan by publishing nearly 400,000 leaked classified reports about accounts of abuse and misconduct during the Iraq War.

But now former members have accused the site of “losing sight of its founding principle that all leaks should be made available to the public no matter how large or small” over its obsession with chasing stories about the US military.

Wikileaks founder Julian Assange hit back by accusing former colleagues of being “peripheral players… spreading poisonous false rumours”, the Indy reported.
