CNBC.com appoints editor to lead London-based EMEA site

By Press Gazette

Ted Kemp has been appointed senior news editor for CNBC.com's operations in Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

Kemp will be based in CNBC's European headquarters in London and starts work immediately. He joins from CNBC.com's editorial team in the US where he has worked for the last five years, most recently as news editor.

'In the US, Kemp played a central role in developing the site at launch and now aims to make the European edition of CNBC.com the destination of choice for business and finance news in Europe and beyond,'CNBC said in a statement.

According to the company, figures from ComScore Media Metrix for July 2011 show the website had its best-ever performance for that month, up 6 per cent on last year to 5.9 million unique users, and a total of 312 million page views. The European edition of CNBC.com was launched in May 2011.

Kemp, who started his career in business journalism at Dow Jones Newswires, reports to CNBC's EMEA head of news Patrick Allen. 'Following Ted's experience and success in the US he was the clear choice to further enhance and grow the European edition of the site,'said Allen.

'He has a brilliant track record for delivering essential and compelling content which will help drive growth of the site in this region."
