The Maidenhead Advertiser has relaunched with a new design aimed at appealing to busy readers..
The newspaper will have shorter stories and more news-in-briefs as well as colour-coded sections.
Editor Martin Trepte said the redesign addresses the issue of readers not buying the paper “for reasons of time”.
He said: “In a climate of falling newspaper sales, our redesign has tried to address this issue by making the paper easier to navigate and a quicker, more satisfying read.”
Besides bringing in new columnists with more local voices and in-depth interviews by editor Trepte, the paper will also introduce a redesigned leisure section: The Zone, featuring entertainment news.
According to ABC, in the first half of this year the Maidenhead Advertiser had a circulation of 20,814, down 9.3 per cent year on year.
The Advertiser is independently owned by charitable trust which was set up in the 1960s.
Last year its publisher, Baylis and Co, bought the Windsor & Eton Express and Slough & South Bucks Express in what the company said was the biggest expansion in its history.
