Telegraph Media Group has announced a major new operation in China with the opening of a bureau in Shanghai.
Malcolm Moore has been appointed Shanghai correspondent for the Daily Telegraph, Sunday Telegraph and Telegraph.co.uk. He will be setting up the new office and reporting on foreign news and business for all three platforms.
Moore previously spent two years as Rome correspondent for the company and has been in charge of economics for the Daily Telegraph since he joined in 2001.
Editor-in-chief Will Lewis said: ‘Malcolm will do a great job of reporting on every aspect of China’s growth as we significantly bolster our coverage in China at this crucial time. Malcolm is an experienced reporter and has all the right qualities to run our new Shanghai bureau.”
The Financial Times also has a Shanghai bureau, launched by correspondent James Harding, now editor of The Times, in 1996.
