Up to 500 UK media leaders will gather at London’s Hilton Hotel on Bankside on Wednesday 6 September for the second Future of Media Technology Conference and Future of Media Awards.

Key themes under discussion include:

  • The threats and opportunities posed by automation and generative AI
  • How to achieve meaningful audience growth
  • The future of live blogging
  • Business lessons for podcast publishers
  • How technology can increase newsroom productivity.

Speakers include keynote addresses from:

  • Future CEO Jon Steinberg
  • Stylist Group CEO Ella Dolphin.

Press Gazette editor in chief Dominic Ponsford said: “It’s never been more important for newsroom and media leaders to meet to discuss the threats and opportunities posed by the technological disruption of our industry.

“Generative AI will obviously be high on the agenda as will how publishers can continue to thrive in an age when social media platforms have increasingly moved from frenemies to all-out enemies (and taken both audience and revenue with them).

“And we will also hear the latest thinking on how publishers can reach audiences in new ways and engage with them in a way that enables them to turn a profit and so invest in quality journalism and content.

“The event will conclude with an inspiring showcase of the best in digital journalism from the last year with the Future of Media Awards.”

The conference panels, keynotes and interviews will run from 9am to 5.30pm with a networking breakfast, lunch and evening drinks included.

The Future of Media Awards will then take place at the same venue from 6.30pm to 7.30pm.

The awards include categories for the best websites, apps, podcasts, newsletters and digital storytelling of the last year. The full list of finalists is available here.
