Trinity Mirror is reportedly closing county-wide magazine Cornwall Today after 20 years in print, but said it is still exploring options to save the title.
Editor Kirstie Newton announced the monthly magazine’s final edition, out on 17 May, in a Facebook post.
She wrote: “We are sad to confirm that Trinity Mirror has decided to cease publication of Cornwall Today.
“We are currently working on the June issue, which will be the last; it promises to be a bumper edition full of features celebrating both Cornwall and the 20 year history of our beautiful magazine.
“We’re immensely proud of the work we’ve done in that time, and while sad, it is lovely to read how much it has meant to you, our readers.”
She added that the team “hope very much” it might not be the end of the magazine altogether, and told readers to watch for further updates.
A Trinity Mirror spokesperson has since told Press Gazette: “We are exploring options to preserve the title – the final curtain hasn’t come down yet.”
Cornwall Today claims to be Cornwall’s biggest and best-selling magazine.
It was named Magazine of the Year at the Regional Press Awards in 2014 and was highly commended last year.
The magazine had its own website until 2016 but is now incorporated into the Cornwall Live website.
It is published by DC Media, which became part of Trinity Mirror when the publisher bought out Local World in 2015.
Cornwall’s print magazine market would continue to be served by Cornwall Life, published by Archant.
