How to pitch to: Women’s Fitness

By Press Gazette

Pitch to

Christina Neal, managing editor at Christina.neal@trojanpublishing.co.uk

Type of articles

All types – in-depth features, mini-interviews, short features – anything relevant will be considered.

How to pitch

In the first instance, we always prefer pitches by email and not on the phone. Phone pitchers may get short shrift in press week. As for the level of detail required, just a few paragraphs explaining how you would approach a certain topic, what the angle would be, and what would make the story unique is fine.

Post-pitch

We tend to be quite frank if the story isn’t for us, but we’ll explain why and make sure the contributor understands our target audience for future ideas.

What will impress

An understanding of the magazine and an awareness of the target readership.

What won’t impress

Being pitched to on the phone.

Rate

It varies, depending on the experience and skill of the writer. Not all of our contributors are experienced freelances – they might be experts in fitness or nutrition for instance.
