The Blackburn Broadcasting Company has been awarded the licence for Blackburn’s new local commercial FM radio station.
Four applications were made to Ofcom for the licence and The Bee, set up by the Blackburn Broadcasting Company, was the winning proposal.
From next summer it will broadcast a full service radio station to Blackburn, Darwen, Accrington and the surrounding areas, which have an adult population of around 150,000.
The company said significant resources will be given to local news and information. The station will have its own independent news team but will share some news gathering with local station 2BR.
