Channel 4 News has announced that Krishnan Guru-Murthy will be its new main anchor following the departure last year of Jon Snow.
As part of a presenter shake-up, C4N said that Cathy Newman will become investigations editor while continuing her presenter duties.
Europe editor Matt Frei will “take the lead on major international stories” as the programme’s “main foreign presenter”.
Jackie Long will also remain a “key part of the presenting team, alongside her role as social affairs editor”.
Channel 4 News said it would additionally be advertising for a new presenter to be based in Leeds. The Yorkshire city is to become “a home for digital and specialist output with around 15 roles based there”.
Channel 4 News editor Esme Wren said: “This line up is built around the strength and specialisms of the current presenting team, while the expanded presenting and production presence in Leeds means we can better reflect interests and concerns from all over the country.
“Krishnan is one of the pre-eminent communicators of his generation with an unparalleled combination of authority and accessibility.
“Cathy’s role reflects her status as one of the most tenacious story-getters working in TV news today.
“Matt is one of the most highly awarded TV journalists, acclaimed for his insightful and engaging approach to the global issues shaping our future.
“Jackie combines persistence with sensitivity to win the trust of those sharing some of the toughest stories.”
