On Monday, it seemed as though the whole country was watching. Would
they make it? Would those years of painstaking preparation pay off? How
many run-outs would there be? Would the appeals be recognised? There
was a lot of uncertainty, plenty of spin, a few false strokes and a lot
of chewed fingernails.
But eventually, they delivered the result
they’d promised. Now the question remains: can this success return them
to the position of strength they once held?
Or will The Guardian’s Berliner dream turn to ashes?
