The County Cork-based TCH group, owner of the Irish Examiner and the Sunday Business Post, has acquired The Echo Group series of newspapers, which circulate mainly in Wexford.
The group includes the Enniscorthy Echo, New Ross Echo, Gored Echo and Wexford Echo titles.
The group also has a sizeable number of titles in the regional market on the Irish east coast, including the Nationalist and Leinster Times, the Kildare Nationalist and the Waterford News and Star.
Anthony Dinan, group managing director of TCH, said: "This allows The Echo titles to maximise the potential of the synergies that arise from being part of a larger organisation."
The acquisition brings to 15 the number of regional titles acquired by TCH in the past 10 years. The cost of the latest deal hasn’t been disclosed, but is understood to be in the region of €13m to €15m.
