Contrary to your article, “TMS sends journalists home on biggest
news day of year” (Press Gazette, 15 July), reporters at the South
London Press did NOT receive this directive.
Myself and another
reporter were sent to the scene of the 7 July bombings as soon as news
came through, and were in the field all day, along with photographers.
Our
deadline was extended by an hour and a half – again contrary to your
report, which claims “an early finish”. It is disappointing that this
fiction could have been avoided with a quick call to our office.

Editor’s note: we were told by Trinity Mirror that the email directive was sent to the SLP and was followed by the news editor.
