Sir David Arculus to deliver 2015 Stationers’ Company lecture on ‘riding a tiger’ at Emap

By Press Gazette

Former EMAP group managing director Sir David Arculus is deliver this year’s Stationers’ Company Annual Lecture on 9 March.

It is titled “Riding a Tiger” and will detail the “rise and fall” of a group he helped transform from a small regional newspaper publisher into a media giant.

Arculus, who is now chairman of Energy (UK) and Hassium Asset Management, is expected to deliver a “high colourful” and “hard hitting” lecture – according to the Stationers’ Company.

It said: “Sir David will tell his own story, inextricably  linked to that of EMAP and, in riding that tiger one more time, will offer pointers to what went wrong and lessons for today’s rising media companies. As he himself says in his lecture, one might wonder whether, in telling the story, he is in danger of “stirring up a viper’s nest”.

The event takes place at Stationers’ Hall on Ave Maria Lane, London EC4M 7DD

Tickets are available for the lecture=only (plus drinks and canapes from 6pm) and lecture plus dinner here.
