Scarlet, the
magazine that attempts to “turn women on”, has claimed a victory for
female sexuality by winning a battle to get stocked in WHSmith stores.
The
title, which has been running for ten months, is aimed at women who
“want to get inspired, get informed or get off”, and is edited by sex
columnist Sarah Hedley and published by Gavin Griffiths, former owner
of The Erotic Review. It will appear in WHSmiths nationally from 21
July.
Hedley said: “We’ve been trying to get this to happen for nearly a year.
It’s equal rights for women to be able to have sexy mags on the shelves like men can.
“We’ve had readers writing in to us outraged that their local newsagent didn’t stock Scarlet.”
