RTE salary secrets

By Press Gazette

RTE has been ordered by the Irish Information Commissioner, former journalist Emily O’Reilly, to divulge the salaries of its top 30 presenters.

The national broadcaster had maintained that such information was “commercially sensitive” and might be of use to competitors.

But, following a lengthy freedom of information process, O’Reilly has told RTE that she has decided to allow an appeal by several newspapers and one private individual seeking the information.
