Tyrone Courier to publish in Polish, Lithuanian and Portuguese

By Jimmy Nicholls

The Tyrone Courier will release its Wednesday edition with news items and advertisements in four different languages.

The Northern Irish title will be translated into Portuguese, Polish and Lithuanian to cater for the 10 percent of the local population whose first language is not English.

Managing director of Alpha Newspaper Group Jonathan Taylor said: “We hope that by introducing these languages local people from Eastern Europe will feel more integrated into the community and identify with it.”

The group claims a weekly newspaper circulation of 68,000 in Northern Ireland, with the Tyrone Courier accounting for 15,000.
