Redditch Standard editor leaves for PR role after four years in the job

By William Turvill

The editor of the Redditch Standard has left his post after four years.

Ian Dipple, 32, has worked for Bullivant Media for more than 12 years after starting as a trainee.

Dipple, who is moving to become communications manager at Wychavon District Council, has been replaced by Ross Crawford-Paul, who "has a wealth of experience having worked in the industry for more than 30 years for titles including the Solihull News, Sutton Coldfield News and Birmingham Post".

Dipple said: “I’m sad to be leaving, this job has given me some wonderful experiences from interviewing Prime Ministers to campaigning on behalf of our readers and I’ve met some brilliant people.

“It has been a tough four years for the newspaper industry as a whole and I’m proud of how despite the pressures we’ve managed to improve the quality of the product we have produced and sustained that consistently week after week."

The Redditch Standard, a free weekly, recorded an average circulation of 38,127 in the second half of 2014, according to ABC.
