Archant has confirmed the pay freeze announced yesterday at its magazine division has been extended across other parts of the company.
The managing directors at Archant Norfolk, Archant Suffolk, Archant South West and Archant Herts & Cambs have all written to their staff, telling them pay reviews have been postponed.
Affected newspapers include the Eastern Daily Press and Ipswich’s Evening Star. The freeze is unlikely to be reviewed for one year.
The pay freeze has not been confirmed at Archant London, but is expected to be announced soon.

Pay reviews at Archant Print, the printing division, are not due until later this year.
Other major regional newspaper publishers – including Newsquest, Northcilffe, Johnston Press, and Trinity Mirror – have already announced pay freezes.
Archant employs 2,400 staff and recently announced profits of £22m for 2008 – a 27 per cent fall year on year.
On Saturday, 70 journalists from Archant Norfolk were joined by readers, politicians, and union leaders in Norwich city centre to protest against the proposed cutting of 34 jobs.
