NUJ members at Northcliffe-owned Kent Regional Newspapers have today claimed formal union recognition.
According to the National Union of Journalists, some 60 per cent of editorial staff at KRN voted to force the company to recognise the NUJ in a formal ballot organised under the rules of the Central Arbitration Committee.
NUJ national organiser Barry Fitzpatrick said: ‘This result adds to the growing number of Northcliffe titles that are opting for union recognition. It is a real victory for our members at Kent Regional Newspapers who have been working so hard to ensure their views are heard.”
