The new weekly business newspaper for Greater Manchester has set a date for its launch and released a dummy front page.
Crain’s Manchester Business has released this dummy front page ahead of a 17 December launch
Crain’s Business Manchester, part of the American chain of business papers with titles in Detroit, New York and Chicago, will distribute some 20,000 copies of its first issue on 17 December through newsstand sales and controlled circulation before its full launch in 2008. A prototype 24-page issue has been released.
Weekly, city-based business papers are common in the States, though publisher Crain Communications claims this is the first to be published in Western Europe.
Editor Steve Brauner said: ‘There is real excitement. People can’t wait to see what kind of publication we are going to produce. We believe we will fill a gap in the market by bringing people information they can’t get elsewhere. Working on the prototype issue has shown that there is a lot of scope to do this.”
The paper’s news team will also post updates on its website Crainsmanchesterbusiness.co.uk.
Crain Communications, one of the largest privately-owned business publishers in the US with 29 market leading titles, said Greater Manchester was a ‘thriving and varied business scene and dynamic city centre, as an ideal place to launch in the UK”.
Simon Binns, previously editor of InterGaming magazine, has joined as senior business reporter specialising in commercial property and regeneration.
Angela Tattersall, previously research fellow at the University of Salford Business School, has joined as research director and will be responsible for compiling business lists. Shawn Selby will join from Crain’s Detroit Business as business lives editor in November.
More appointments are expected in the coming weeks.
