Johnston Press has merged its two weekly newspapers in the East Yorkshire town of Driffield.
The Driffield Times and Driffield Post have combined to become the Times & Post, a move the company claimed was the result of ‘extensive market research studies”.
The title has gone on sale at 80p, which is 20p cheaper than the cost of the two previous papers combined.
The first edition of the new-look paper came out last week.
A notice on its website said: ‘The paper is bigger than the two old papers combined and 20p cheaper – so you are getting more news coverage, more sport and more local information for less money
‘And if you subscribe to the paper you can get the paper each week for just 60p”
Readers are now being asked to fill in an online survey to give feedback on the new title.
ABC figures for the Driffield Post are unavailable but the most recent figures for the Times showed a 5.1 per cent drop to 4,177.
