Henley Standard invests in video

Weekly newspaper the Henley Standard is expanding its video website HSOtv with the recruitment of a full-time video content manager.

Five journalists currently produce videos for the site, in addition to their other duties, with one video a day currently going online.

According to the Henley Standard, which is part of the independent Higgs Group, the paper's website attracts around 33,000 unique users a month.

The paper has also launched a news app on the iPhone, which features all of the main headlines and stories from the paper free of charge.

The Henley Standard has been producing video for three years. One of the biggest stories this year has been about Henley's Leander Rowing Club training with Britain's Olympic rowing squad hopefuls and it attracted 6,000 views.

The Standard is proposing to fund its video expansion by selling ‘pre-roll' video advertising slots for the first time.
