Former reporter with the Grays Yellow Advertiser from the Eighties, Dave Jordan, has died in Sydney. He was 51.
Dave, who worked on the Sydney Telegraph, was diagnosed with cancer three years ago, but died on Friday morning, at home after a long and spirited battle.
His family of wife Bev, formerly a reporter with the Thurrock Gazette, their two teenage children Matt and Hannah, his mother and brothers, who had flown out from the UK to be with him, had been with him through the night.
Dave and Bev met in 1976 when they were at Harlow doing their NCTJ training. They emigrated to Australia in the Eighties.
He had many friends from the YA who had kept in touch, meeting up for a pint during his visits home to see his mum and brothers. They said they will miss his cheerful wit and his passion for cricket and real ale.
