Bristol Post’s Rob Stokes to take over from retiring Ian Mean as editor of Western Daily Press

By William Turvill

The Bristol Post's Rob Stokes (pictured) is to take over from Ian Mean as the editor of the Western Daily Press.

Stokes, who has been deputy editor of the Post since 2006, is to replace Mean after he retires on 6 March.

Mean, who previously edited the Citizen in Gloucester for ten years, took over at the Western Daily Press last May, replacing Tim Dixon, who was made commercial editor of the title.

Stokes has been a journalist for 35 years and, before becoming deputy editor, was previously investigations editor and news editor of the Post.

Bristol, Gloucestershire, Somerset and Dorset region publisher Sarah Pullen said: “He knows the Western Daily Press and its patch very well.

"Rob has some great plans for its development, both in print and online.”

Both the Bristol Post and Western Daily Press are Local World titles.
