Archant promises major content-led reorganisation in 2015

By Emily Shackleton

Regional publisher Archant has promised 'major reorginsation' next year with a new focus on 'content', chief executive Jeff Henry has promised a company conference in Norwich.

Henry said that he plans to bring content “to the top of our agenda, ensuring that it is relevant, timely and cost effective”.

“I believe this is a great company, with strong brands, trusted in its communities and full of committed, talented and creative people,” he said.

“There are, however, a number of things which I think we can do differently to produce better results and to be more customer-centric.”

Henry explained that this new focus would involve a major reorganisation of the company, which has a combined circulation of 1.7 million copies per week, with the creation of new executive positions.

Archant is currently hiring for a new chief content officer, chief technical officer and chief commercial officer. Meanwhile, senior staff will take up new positions with Will Hattam becoming chief marketing officer, Brian McCarthy chief financial officer and Dee Willmott chief HR and development officer.

The changes will enable Archant to run along “functional lines”, Henry said, with “leaders in content, commercial, marketing, technology, finance and HR”.

“Instead of reporting through a regional business structure you will become part of a functional one, with all editorial people, for example, reporting through the content leader.”

No redundancies are planned as a result of this reorganisation.
