Times and Sunday Times digital sales power ahead

The Times now has 119,255 digital subscribers, with the Sunday Times claiming 113,818 – according to figures issued by News International last night.

The figures show that there has been continual digital subscriber growth at The Times and Sunday times since they relaunched their websites behind paywalls in July 2010.

News International is now claiming a total daily paid audience of 524,368 for The Times and 1,081,793 for the Sunday Times.

According to NI, an average of 59,882 copies of The Times were downloaded per day on iPad alone in January, this was said to be a 35 per cent increase in the space of six months. The Sunday Times iPad edition was downloaded 63,959 times a week on average, NI said, an 80 per cent increase in the space of six months.

Print sales of The Times were down 11.4 per cent year on year in January to an average of 405,113 according to ABC. At the Sunday Times, print sales dropped 6.87 per cent year on year to 967,975 a week in January – again according to ABC.
