Telegraph decides it’s time to appoint a watch editor

By John Reynolds

Telegraph Media Group (TMG) has appointed a watch editor, who will commission and edit the paper’s Telegraph Time supplement.

Timothy Barber is taking on the role from the beginning of May this year.

Barber will move from his role as editor of luxury watch magazine QP, which is also owned by TMG.

Barber will also be contributing articles to other TMG publications such as Telegraph Luxury, ST Watches and Jewellery.

Telegraph Time is published three times a year in March, June and November.

It is understood no other Fleet Street newspaper group has a watch editor.

Carley Ayres, TMG’s director of luxury, said: “Tim is one of the leading experts in watches and jewellery and his appointment reflects his opinion-shaping work. Our audience is hugely passionate and seeks the sharpest insight on trends, so it’s essential that our team provides the very best coverage. Tim is highly respected throughout the industry and will ensure the Telegraph’s coverage continues to lead on setting the highest standards year on year.”

Jane Bruton, Telegraph’s lifestyle director, said: “Bringing on board yet more experience and energy to the Watches and Jewellery team on The Telegraph shows our commitment to this hugely important sector.”
