Sunday Times’ Skipworth poached for Telegraph sport role

The Daily Telegraph has poached Sunday Times managing editor (news) Mark Skipworth to be executive editor (sport).

In his ten years as managing editor (news) at the Sunday Times he has overseen home, politics, and the investigative unit, Insight.

Skipworth was closely involved in the “cash for questions” and “cash for honours” probes.

In his new job he will oversee the sports coverage across The Daily Telegraph, The Sunday Telegraph and Telegraph.co.uk.

He will also have responsibilities outside of sport and will join the senior editing team.

Telegraph editor-in-chief Will Lewis, said: ‘I am delighted that Mark is joining our team. He has been one of the powerhouses of The Sunday Times. He has a wealth of experience and I know he will do a great job of building on our fantastic reputation for sports coverage.’
