The only Scottish daily or Sunday newspaper to declare its support for independence has reported a 111 per cent year on year increase in circulation.
The Sunday Herald has quoted internal figures showing a sale of 49,291 last week.
The paper said on Twitter: “We are speechless and very grateful.”
It became the first paper to declare its support for a yes vote in the Scottish independence referendum in May. Every other Scottish daily and Sunday newspaper subsequently stayed neutral or backed a no vote.
The Glasgow-based Sunday Herald had an average circulation in the first half of this year of 25,125.
